Can we close the loop in NZ? Many New Zealanders are increasingly choosing to purchase and use products that are made from recycled material, and while some products can be recycled, in New Zealand local councils do not have the infrastructure or technology in place to re-purpose the majority of plastics. Plant pots fit into this category. However, many of the world’s developed countries are now implementing the technology to make change. It is only a matter of time before NZ implement the same technology.
We need to find ways to motivate more consumers to participate. Well over 98% of the New Zealand population can recycle plastics, but the plastics recycled rate is hovering around 5%?.
It is our vision that all plastic plant pots used in New Zealand are made from 100% recycled material and these same pots are able to be recycled through the kerbside recycling system. Thereby closing the recycling loop.
